New Day in Christ Prayer Circle: Praise be to God, Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer!

New Day in Christ Ministries, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) outreach ministry of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in Houston, Texas. Since 2000, we have been sharing the good news of God's radically transforming love by mailing out free daily devotional calendar to anyone who writes, calls, emails or faxes us complete mailing information. Current distribution now averages over 500 devotionals per week, with our total distribution for 2006 was just under 24,000. Approximately 65% of the calendars we send go to individuals in prison, and most of the rest are sent to friends and family members of prisoners, in order to help prisoners stay connected with their outside support.

Volunteer schedule: Volunteers are welcome every Tuesday and Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until noon to help with mailings.

Support programs in your community that help prisoners reintegrate after they have paid their debts to society!

Monetary donations are appreciated and will help us maintain our ministry and reach out to children of inmates, Spanish speaking populations and others!

Not so random acts of kindness: If you have received a devotional, and did not request it, someone you know has requested that we send it to you. We did not just pick your name out of a phone book, we are not soliciting donations or memberships. As part of our ministry, we extend an invitation to each recipient to share a devotional with a loved one or friend. We hope you will accept this free gift as our way of sharing God's love, and we invite you as well, if you feel led to do so, to share the gift with someone you feel would be touched by its message. Please be assured that we only keep statistical data necessary to our ministry. We absolutely do not sell names and addresses to anyone. Praise be to God, Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer!

The shaking ground of life lies above the firm rock of our faith. Our feet may walk in hope, for the eternal God holds our hand. This is the God we believe in, the God who holds our hand when the world seems like an unstable place to live, the God who created the foundations of the earth, who knows when we stumble and is there to lift us up! Praise be to the God of every time and place, our Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer!

We pray for Mark Malone to find a caring half-way house to support him in his return to society. We pray for Tim McQueary. We ask for patience and peace for Laurie Sheridan as she seeks reconciliation with her husband and son. We pray for Jessica Peterson, to give her vision to find the path to restoration of her relationship with her mother. We lift the names of Edna Hunter and Amanda Green, Zoraida Miranda, Meya Akin, Redessa Hull, Cecilia Viera, Chriss Culliver, Lawana McCall, and Latina Ransom, and we call to mind all the women in prison. Help them rebuild their lives on the solid rock of Christ, and prepare their hearts and minds to be in community with believers to shine the light of your love through their lives. We give thanks for their witness in our lives, and we pray in name of our loving savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
