Where is the love?

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

I Corinthians 13:1-3

To put it in today's words, Paul is telling us that we may talk the talk, but we better be able to walk the walk. Because its all about love. Nothing in the Gospel can save us without love. Jesus said it over and over, and still we tend to look for all kinds of rules and measures and doctrines... but it won't mean a thing without the love. Ya'll.

Father, Father, Father, help us, we need some guidance from above. Cause people got me questioning, where is the love?

Dear God, fill our hearts and minds with love for you and for our sisters and brothers here in this world. Help us overcome our tendancy to look for the hairsplitting letter of the law, and truely live by the spirit of your word, that is based in love. Forgive us when we make excuses. Show us how to seek true reconciliation with you and the world. Teach us to use our abilities and talents in love, for the benefit of humankind.

We ask your blessings on the family of Felicia Hilliard as she continues her journey to faith; For Tamera Mayo and her husband and children to be reunited soon if it be your will; we add our prayers to those of Pete Gonzales, remembering with him our government leaders in prayer, that they may govern our nation with a renewed moral authority that comes from understanding the true nature of your command for us to love one another. For these your children, and for all others in prison, we ask your protection and your healing.

We realize that it is only through your grace that change is possible in any of our lives. Please strengthen all chaplains, volunteers, and ministries spreading the good news of your radical love. Give us the words to express a love that knows no limits, that finds each and every one of us, wherever we are, if we open our hearts and minds to you. Please continue to bless this ministry, and guide us in the direction you want us to go. Empower us to do your work in the world, through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
