Pray without ceasing...

So many of our brothers and sisters in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are in dire circumstances. Please make it your mission to be in prayer today all through the day for the citizens, for the rescue workers, and for the government to make a rapid and responsible response to the incredible need.

Oh God our help in ages past, be with our brothers and sisters in need. Help your people who have only you. Let us find a way to provide for the immediate need, and give guidance to local, state and national officials, to respond in meaningful ways. Help those who are helping others, the rescue workers and relief aid workers, the doctors and nurses, fire fighters and coast guard. Strengthen them and let them feel your love lifting them when they are too tired to continue. For those who are trapped, please help them find the way out. For the thousands have lost everything but their lives, who are now hungry, thirsty, hot and tired, please dear God, bring them peace and releive them all of the terror they have witnessed, and help each of us to know how we are called by you to help. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Welcome to the Prayer Circle!

Welcome to the New Day in Christ Prayer Circle! This is the initial post for the online prayer list. Daily updates will be made to share all the prayer requests we have received in the mail or by phone in requests to receive our perpetual devotional calendar. For more information about the calendar, including how to receive one, see (link to home page?)

Prayer requests received yesterday, August 29th include: Aaron and Sylvia Gonzales, Marta Angela, Sharlet Middleton and her family, Paula Walker and all the women at DWCF, Alfred Lovato and his brothers and sisters.

Dear God, we lift these names in prayer today. Please let Aaron, Sylvia, Marta, Sharlet and her family, Paula and the women of DWCF, and Alfred and his brothers and sisters, know your presence in their lives. Where they need comfort, comfort them. Where they need strength, strengthen them. You know our every need, and you love us each not for our own merit, but because we are yours. Thank you for loving us. Enable those who seek to minister to these your children in need, to follow your will and be for the world a light to show the way to you. We lift these prayers in the name of Jesus, your son and our Lord.

And Creator of the wind and waters, send your protection to those who are suffering in flood waters and devastation in the aftermath of the hurricane. For those who are still in danger, protect and guard them, and guide them to safety. For the unknown people who have lost their lives, we give them to your merciful embrace and we know you will care for them better than we could possibly. For the thousands who will mourn their lost loved ones please send your comfort. For the police, firefighters, coast guard, national guard and relief workers, strengthen them for the heavy burden they must bear in reclaiming the land from the wind and waters, please protect them from harm and give them rest when they are weary. Move us to respond to the unimaginable need in ways that will testify to your presence in the world, even in times of tragedy and despair. Show us the way, oh Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
